Crowning the «holy hill», the Andechs abbey overlooks the Ammersee. Its church, orginally built in Gothic style, was remodelled in Rococo style between 1751 and 1755. The frescoes and stuccowork are by Zimmermann. A gallery decorated with painted panels evoking the history of the abbey, surrounds the main body of the church.
