Built in the 17C in the Renaissance style, this church is a gem that is almost entirely unknown to tourists. A perfect example of the cultural mixing pot intended by the Jesuits, Tadeo Escalante's murals depict the arrogance of the rich and powerful colonists, underlining that neither their wealth nor their power were a buttress against death or an undeserved privilege against divine justice. The Mudéjar-style ceilings are adorned with frescoes, representing an image of paradise that is not unlike the Amazon jungle.
