The Andalucian-style Laredo palace was built in 1880 by the architect and town mayor, M. J. Laredo. The building is neo-Gothic-mudéjar in style, featuring a combination of Oriental stucco decor and enamel tiles on its minaret-tower. The ceiling in the Throne Room illustrates the sky as it would have been imagined in the Middle Ages. The palace is home to the Cisneros museum, named after the founder of the old university.
