Bab Al-Futuh or the "Gate of Conquests" marks the northern end of the ramparts, which were built in the 11C by the Fatimids who used stone from ancient Memphis. Its imposing fortification is flanked by two round towers. As you look at the gate, remember that at the time of its construction, the road crossing its broad barrel vault was located 5m below its current level!
