Chefs Club (by Food & Wine) is visually stunning, featuring a state-of-the-art open kitchen with a striking blue-tile backdrop; a sensational modern bar; and lots of loud music to set the mood. The concept is particularly innovative, with chefs and menus that are beyond prediction. The only "known" is that meals are often as intellectually satisfying as appetite satiating. Case in point? A recent showcase of the foods of the African diaspora, which included a spicy rice bowl with sweet butternut squash, tart yogurt, and creamy egg; fiery roti with three dipping sauces you'd want to swim in; and jerk chicken with a tamarind glaze. The melting pot mentality is best seen in the udon, which gets a West African twist with braised goat and peanut sauce.
