In the province of Mendoza there’s no excuse for not visiting a winery to enjoy an authentic wine-tourism experience. And with this in mind, Susana Balbo, famous as the first female wine expert in Argentina and a leading wine reference on the South American continent, founded the family-run Susana Balbo Wines bodega, 30km or so south of Mendoza. The Osadía de Crear restaurant, which has existed on the estate since 2013 and is now under the baton of chef Flavia Amad Di Leo, aims to enhance this wine appreciation experience with modern cuisine that is highly delicate and always focuses on local and seasonal ingredients (pumpkin, string beans, beetroot, pomegranate etc). This is presented on two tasting menus (four or six courses), each with different and equally superb estate wine pairing options. Informal brunches, picnics and afternoon tea can also be arranged in the winery’s galleries and gardens.
