Fleeing cold European winters, many birds, such as storks from Alsace, pink flamingos from the Camargue and summer swallows, take shelter at Kus Cenneti, whose Turkish name translates as "paradise of birds". Sultan Sazligi National Park, a 24,000ha nature reserve dotted with lakes, lies at the foot of Erciyes Dagi and is home to more than 300 species of migrant birds each year. Two such lakes provide a perfect backdrop for a stroll.
