Constituting the northern aspect of the Campo Grande, the city's green lung, Plaza Zorilla (named after poet and dramatist José Zorrilla whose statue stands here) is embellished by a monumental fountain reflecting the majestic façade of the Cavalry School. The first stone of this fine neo-Renaissance building was laid by Alfonso XIII on 4 May 1921.
