This visitor centre located only 5mi from Mt St Helens crater is accessed by following the Spirit Memorial Highway for 44mi. The devastated site is still impressive, with acres of blackened trees alternating with new plantations visible in the area where the forest was engulfed by the eruption. Other centres provide information on different aspects of the destruction and regeneration of the site.
