Built largely on the river banks from the mid-19C to mid-20C for the city's growing port installations, the area south of Front Street contains Toronto's foremost landmarks (the CN Tower and Rogers Centre) and its immense lakefront revitalization project. Several docks were overhauled to house colourful shops, galleries, performance arenas, restaurants, sailing schools and an open-air theatre, CIBC Stage.
