This long hike will delight mountain lovers, at least those who aren't prone to altitude sickness, with the wild splendour of its landscapes. The easiest way is to climb from Tilcara, first following the path towards the Garganta del Diablo, admiring what remains of the ancient crop terraces of Alfarcito, Zanjas and Chilcaguada. During the Holy Wednesday procession, the path is taken over by worshippers.
