Skyros may offer the same enchantment of deserted inlets and turquoise waters, but this, the largest of the Sporades, has a harsher, wilder character than the rest of the islands making up the archipelago. Here, traditional crafts still have an important status and traditions are alive and well. The carnival, in particular, constitutes a highlight of local life.
