An orchard-island among the waves, Skopelos is a fertile spot with its vines, olive groves, and almond and prune trees, the latter being renowned for their exceptional fruit. The island has numerous churches and chapels, as well as a handful of monasteries, their white silhouettes stark in the green landscape. Like its neighbour Skiathos, this island of the Sporades has inlets and sandy or pebbly beaches bordering an emerald sea.
