With the exception of the art museums of Los Angeles and San Francisco, this must be one of the most fascinating museums of California. Laid out around a cool atrium, it showcases Greek and Roman antiquities, American and European art and photographs over three levels. The exhibits are changed regularly in a bid to display the museum's extensive holdings. Upstairs, don't miss the outstanding Asian art collections (ceramics, lithographs, sculpture and costumes).
