Two superimposed shrines, partly carved out of the rock, make up Ridi Viharaya, the Silver Temple, first built by King Duttu Gemunu in the 2C BCE on a rocky outcrop over a silver mine, hence its name. One of the caves is home to a 9m/30ft-long reclining Buddha and the walls are covered in paintings depicting divinities. From the dagoba at the top of the hill, enjoy the magnificent view over the Knuckles range of mountains.
