This road winds up to Mt. Revelstoke in a series of switchbacks, with a viewpoint of the town of Revelstoke. At the summit the vista stretches as far as Columbia valley and the frozen peaks of the Clachnacudainn Range. Paths from the summit descend into the alpine meadows. Farther up highway 1, some 20km/12mi east of Revelstoke, the Giant Cedars Trail is a short boardwalk among ancient Californian red cedars.
