The Selkirk Mountains and the Monashee Mountains (Gaelic for "mountain of peace") are part of the Columbia Mountains and stand in the south-eastern part of British Colombia, between the Rockies and the Interior Plateau. Crossed by the Trans-Canada Highway, these mountains boast spectacular landscapes, in particular in the Eagle Pass and Roger Pass. The rocky peaks, sharp crests and crisp glaciers give way at lower altitude to peaceful wooded valleys.
