Stories about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are legion, and countless films have portrayed their ability to "always get their man". Created in 1873 as the North West Mounted Police, the force's original vocation was to preserve law and order in the Canadian West. In 1920, the force was renamed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
