Late in the afternoon, fishing boats, announced by the procession of seagulls that greets them, return to the wharf, where their fresh catches are unloaded and shipped to markets in Boston and New York. On the last Sunday in June, the Blessing of the Fleet, a colorful and impressive Portuguese celebration, takes place in the harbor. This lively pier is also the departure point for ever-popular whale-watching cruises.
