The town centre is endowed with several remarkable Georgian- and Regency-style houses, including the covered market, the extraordinary Egyptian House (1835), Abbey House and Admiral Benbow. Also worthy of note, south of Penzance, is the Penlee House Gallery and Museum displaying canvases by artists from the Newlyn School.
