Built on a rock dominating the Vltava, the medieval fortress of Orlík was for many years the private kingdom of Karl Philipp Schwarzenberg (1771-1820), whose family served the Habsburg throne faithfully. From this period remains a handsome landscaped park where the family vault stands. Inside the castle, decorated in a combination of Empire and Neo-Gothic styles, are some fine collections of weapons and hunting trophies.
