The island of Yakushima, south of Kyushu, boasts a superb and imposing natural environment, as you will see for yourself... Dozens of peaks emerge at an altitude of more than 1 000m above the treetops of the incredibly lush forest, where the Japanese cedar rules supreme, thanks to the constant rain. A Mecca for walkers, who can enjoy the backdrop of thousand-year-old trees in the valley of Shiratani Unsuikyo or at Yakusugi Land. Bathers can head to the north and east coasts of the island, where warm waves lap the shores of lovely beaches. Yakushima is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
