The kingdom of Swaziland gained independence in 1968. Not subject to apartheid, its ambience has always been one of friendship and respect between its peoples, and it retains its deeply rooted traditions. Partly covering a fertile plain where a tropical climate prevails, Swaziland derives its income primarily from farming. To the west, the mountains dividing it from Mozambique draw walking enthusiasts.
