The Long Tower Church is the oldest Catholic church in Derry (1784-1786). The current building has an interesting rococo interior with vast sloping galleries. It stands on the site of Templemore, a large medieval church built in 1164. The name of the current building is from the large 10C tower, the only remains of the Middle Ages church, which was destroyed by an explosion in 1567. From the cemetery, there is a fine view of the Royal Bastion.
