The historical soul of Havana can be strongly felt in Plaza de la Catedral, a small enclosed square dominated by the city's cathedral. Here, the architectural heritage of the 18C has remained intact thanks to its multitude of colourful buildings, with finely worked colonnades and balconies that take visitors back to the early Spanish colonial period. The impressive properties surrounding it have for the most part been converted into museums.
