Northwest of Breiðafjörður, on the western edge of Europe, the gigantic Látrabjarg cliffs (440m high and 14km long) are home to northern gannets, guillemots, razorbills and gentle puffins, making them very popular with bird watchers. In fine weather you can make out the snow-covered summit of Snæfellsjökull, 75km to the south.
