Panduwas Nuwara
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
A dagoba, ramparts, a royal palace and two monasteries, all of which in hidden in the countryside, miles off the tourist track. This is all that remains of Panduwas Nuwara, the capital of the "Land of the South", built by Parakrama the Great in the 12C. Outside the ramparts, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic has been restored. Artefacts from the site are displayed in the small museum.
