Pier 21 terminal is now a fascinating museum devoted to immigration, flanked by tourist, cultural and shopping attractions. It is at its busiest when the huge cruise ships drop anchor. The lively and colourful Farmer's Market, a modern version of the original founded in 1750, takes place on Pier 20 and is attended by some 250 local growers and sellers.
