On this street stands a charming three-storey building, the old Grammar School and library, which allies the rigour of the Georgian style and the softness of rubble work with the quality of its decorative motifs. Opposite, the church occupies the place where the Lamp of the Lothian once stood, which was part of the Franciscan monastery founded in 1138 by Ada, wife of Prince Henry.
