The Convent of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe - a huge Franciscan complex built in 1707 in the purest Baroque style thanks to the generosity of the "silver aristocrats" - established itself as an advance bastion of evangelical activity in the north of New Spain. The original, sculpted, wood choir stalls have been preserved in the church. The view from here looks down over the (19C) Capilla de Nápoles. This neo-Classical chapel, sumptuously decorated with gold leaf, contains a sculpture of the Immaculate Conception.
