The star attraction on Fraser Island's east coast, this immense beach stretches in a straight line over 120km (75 miles). Driving on the sand is permitted. At low tide, off-road enthusiasts looking to feel the wind in their hair take their vehicles for a spin on a wide strip of wet sand, while at high tide they gather at the edge of the dune, moving through soft sand that requires them to slow down. Swimming is forbidden due to strong currents and the presence of white sharks and tiger sharks.
