De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The large ruins of Crichton castle dominate the western bank of the Tyne. This fortress was the domain of Sir William Crichton (d. 1454), chancellor of Scotland under the reign of James II. The most interesting part is the Italian style interior courtyard made by Francis Stewart, fifth count of Bothwell, in 1591: there are very few examples of such foreign influence in 16C Scottish architecture.
