De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The Real Monasterio de Las Huelgas was founded in 1180 by Alfonso VIII and his wife Eleanor of England. This "golden" convent was reserved for noble-born Cistercian nuns. The royal family of Castile chose it as a place of retreat and also as its pantheon. This heterogeneous and somewhat divided building is dominated by 12C and 13C Cistercian architecture. However, Romanesque and Mudéjar details (13C-15C) can also be found alongside Plateresque furnishings.
