De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
All that remains of the Castle of Belmonte, built in the 13C and 14C by King Dinis I, is the merlon-crested keep and half-demolished surrounding wall. It all underwent restoration in 1940. Particularly noticeable is the right tower of the keep, which bears 17C balconies with consoles, and, on the left, Manueline gemel windows with the Cabral coat-of-arms. The castle has an amphitheatre, where shows and concerts are organised, and there is a museology centre in the keep.
