De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The dense 930ha/3,000acre forest at an altitude of between 500m/1,500ft and 1,300m/3,000ft has been repeatedly damaged by fires, the worst of which was in 1960. Since becoming a protected nature reserve, it has been extensively replanted. In addition, the Forestry Commission has planted chestnut trees, which better withstand fire than coniferous trees. A hunting reserve was set up in 1950 and lucky observers may be able to catch sight of herds of mountain sheep.
