The road from Sveti Juraj to Jablanac skirts the cliff and affords sweeping views of the islands of Krk and Rab, including the isles in between (Prvic, Sv. Grgur, Goli Otok, which was a penal colony for political prisoners under Tito). The impressive mass of the Velebit rises inland. The sparse vegetation is dotted with the occasional hamlet. In the background, the vision of the gulf of Kvarner (and the white walls of Rijeka) is breathtaking.
