This picture-perfect inn set on the village square occupies a wooden building dating from 1756, restored in keeping with its historic character and featuring warm wood from floor to ceiling for a cosy atmosphere. Felix Messner, who runs the establishment with his brother Florian, serves up fresh, flavoursome fare inspired by the culinary traditions of Austria and the Vorarlberg region. The cooking is stripped back to the essentials, allowing the excellent regional produce to take centre stage. Dishes include Backhendl (Austrian-style fried chicken), Tafelspitz (beef simmered in broth), schnitzel, lemon chicken and chanterelle ragout. For overnight stays, there are tastefully appointed guestrooms in a modern regional style.
