The original restaurant, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, was opened by Pernambuco-born Zé Almeida, who became famous thanks to his delicious Mocotó. Nowadays, the kitchen is headed by renowned chef Rodrigo Oliveira, who is keeping his father's legacy alive by offering the best of the Sertão region’s cuisine via the motto “made with the eyes on the world and the feet grounded in the Sertão”. The restaurant has retained its relaxed, simple atmosphere, and its fundamental concept is inclusivity, with no focus whatsoever on social or cultural differences. The chef conjures up a menu that ranges from snacks and full portions to traditional dishes and special cocktails which are in perfect harmony with the cuisine here. As well as the highly-sought-after “dadinhos de tapioca”, make sure you try the perfect “carne de sol” cooked on the grill and served with “bottled butter”, and the “moqueca sertaneja” stew, a vegan option full of flavour!
