Located in Austin's Central Business District, Comedor is a stunner with a carefully curated sense of cool. Inside, traditional and contemporary furnishings are combined with industrial touches. From the long bar to the deep booths to the courtyard, there’s not a bad seat in the house. Chef/owner Philip Speer oversees this creative menu where heirloom masa and woodfire grilling go hand in hand. Tacos feature soft tortillas filled with the likes of bone marrow with pecan gremolata or fried fish with blistered cabbage. Vegetables like okra with salsa or grilled beets with hazelnuts are generous in both portion and taste. End the evening with a tamal de chocolate — and perhaps another round of cocktails.
