Dominated by its cathedral of ever-changing colours, Palma de Mallorca has two sides. On the one hand, it is a modern shop window, a seaside town on a coast paralysed by hotels stretching for more than 20km. On the other, far from the beaches, it has a historic heart to discover in the elegant patios of Majorcan houses. Here, houses and palaces recount several centuries of the island's history marked by Arab domination, the Catalan Reconquest, Aragonese development and Berber raids.
