León: De plaats ontdekken

The former capital of the kingdom of Leon lies in the heart of Meseta, on the banks of the Bernesga. Leon is a major stage on the road to Santiago de Compostela and retains prestigious buildings from its rich past. You can see architectural masterpieces from the Romanesque (San Isidoro), Gothic (cathedral) and Renaissance (San Marcos) periods. Today, Leon is enjoying an industrial economic boom and is being extended along the river, to the West. Cattle breeding is also a major source of revenue.
