Taranto: De plaats ontdekken
The town of Taranto was founded by the Greeks in the 7eth C BC, and was conquered by the Romans in the 3ed C BC. Its geographic location at the end of a road enclosed by two fortified islands, made it a well-defended military port.
Taranto is also known for its impressive ceremonies and processions, during Holy Week. One of them crosses the town, with indescribable slowness for 24 hours and another lasts 17 hours!
