Brescia: De plaats ontdekken

Set at the foot of the Lombard Pre-Alps, this major industrial town is built according to the former Roman castrum of Brixia's regular street plan. It boasts numerous Roman, Romanesque, Renaissance or Baroque buildings which bear witness to a history that saw the free commune join the Lombard League, then come under Venitian rule. During this period, the city formed a school of painting whose most important members were Vincenzo Foppa, Moretto and Romanino.
