This town, which Brahms described as the "most beautiful city on earth", occupies a splendid site between the Danube and the Tisza in the heart of the immense puszta. Famous throughout the world for its foie gras and apricot brandy, Kecskemét boasts edifices which illustrate the varying styles of Hungarian architecture. Birthplace of Zoltán Kodály, author of the Psalmus hungaricus, it has named an institute of musical education to him and organizes an International Festival of Music every year.
